The Buddha’s Descent from Tāvatiṁsa Heaven

ຫຼັງຈາກພຣະພຸດທະເຈົ້າຕັດສະຮູ້ ແລະ ໂປດໝູ່ຊົນມາດົນນານໃນປີທີ່ 7 ແຫ່ງການຕັດສະຮູ້ ພຣະອົງຊົງພິຈາລະນາດ້ວຍພຣະມະຫາກາລຸນາເພື່ອ ສະໜອງຄຸນມານດາ ຜູ້ລ່ວງລັບໄປແລ້ວ ໂດຍສະເດັດຂຶ້ນໄປຍັງ ສະຫວັນຊັ້ນດາວວະດຶງ ເພື່ອສະແດງພຣະທັມມະເທດສະໜາ ອະພິທັມປິດົກ ແກ່ ພຣະນາງສິຣິມະຫາມາຍາ ແລະ ໝູ່ເທບເທວະດາທັງຫຼາຍ 

ພຣະອົງປະທັບຈຳພັນສາເທິງດາວວະດຶງເປັນເວລາ 3 ເດືອນ ຢູ່ ປະຣິນິພານບັນພົດ (ພູເຂົາໄກລາດ) ສະເດັດສະແດງທັມຢ່າງລະອຽດລຶກຊຶ້ງ ເຊິ່ງບໍ່ມີໃຜເຄີຍສະແດງມາກ່ອນ ເທວະດາທັງຫຼາຍຕ່າງປິຕິ ແລະ ພຣະນາງສິຣິມະຫາມາຍາ ກໍ່ໄດ້ຟັງທັມ ຈົນບັນລຸໂສດາປັດຕິຜົນ  

ເມື່ອອອກພັນສາແລ້ວ ພຣະພຸດທະເຈົ້າຊົງຮູ້ວ່າ ເຫຼົ່າພຸດທະບໍລິສັດທັງຫຼາຍໃນໂລກມະນຸດຕ່າງຖ້າພຣະອົງດ້ວຍຄວາມເຄົາລົບຮັກ ພຣະອົງຈຶ່ງສະເດັດລົງສູ່ໂລກມະນຸດ ຢູ່ເມືອງ ສັງກັສສະ ໂດຍມີພຣະອິນ ແລະ ພຣົມ ຖວາຍຂັ້ນໃດ 3 ປະເພດ ໄດ້ແກ່:

• ຂັນໃດຄຳ ສຳຫຼັບພຣະພຸດທະເຈົ້າ

• ຂັນໃດເງິນ ສຳຫຼັບເທບພຣະເຈົ້າທັງຫຼາຍ

• ຂັນໃດແກ້ວ ສຳຫຼັບພຣະພຣົມ 

ການສະເດັດລົງໃນຄັ້ງນັ້ນເປັນພາບອັດສະຈັນງົດງາມ ສັບພະສັດທັງຫຼາຍຕ່າງພາກັນເຝົ້າຊົມປິຕິ ແລະ ເຫດການນີ້ຈຶ່ງກາຍເປັນ ທີ່ລະລຶກແຫ່ງ ວັນເທໂວໂຣຫະນະ ໃນວັນແຮມ 1 ຄ່ຳ ເດືອນ 11

🪷 Episode: The Buddha’s Descent from Tāvatiṁsa Heaven

In the seventh year after His enlightenment, the Buddha, out of boundless compassion and gratitude, resolved to repay the kindness of His mother, Queen Māyā, who had passed away shortly after His birth.

He ascended to Tāvatiṁsa Heaven (the Heaven of the Thirty-Three Gods) to teach the Abhidhamma—the higher teachings of the Dhamma—to His mother and the assembly of celestial beings.

For three months, during the rainy season, the Buddha resided on Mount Sineru (also called Mount Meru) and delivered the profound teachings of the Abhidhamma. The gods rejoiced, and Queen Māyā attained the first stage of enlightenment (Sotāpanna).

At the end of the rains retreat, the Buddha descended back to the human world. His descent took place at Sankassa city, where three celestial stairways appeared:

• A golden stairway for the Buddha

• A silver stairway for the devas (gods)

• A crystal stairway for the brahmās

This glorious scene—known as "The Great Descent" (Devorohaṇa)—was witnessed by countless beings who rejoiced at the Buddha’s return. The event is commemorated on the day after the end of Buddhist Lent, known in Thailand as “Thot Kathin” or “Thot Devo” day.
