The Return of the Buddha and His Reunion with Princess Yasodhara
After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha traveled far and wide to teach the Dhamma. Eventually, He returned to His homeland, Kapilavatthu, at the invitation of King Suddhodana, His father.
News of His return spread across the city. Royal relatives and citizens gathered to welcome Him. But Princess Yasodhara did not come out to greet the Buddha in public. Instead, she quietly waited in her chamber, having spent the past six years in silent devotion—never adorning herself, never seeking another's affection—proving her unwavering love and loyalty.
When the Buddha entered the palace and saw her again, He spoke the Dhamma with compassion. Yasodhara listened deeply and attained the vision of truth. Later, she ordained as a bhikkhuni (female monk) and achieved arahantship—liberation.
🪷 Dhamma Reflection:
"True love does not beg, does not boast, but remains steadfast in silence."
"The awakened mind sees even love as impermanent, but kindness as eternal."
